Orient Bay's powdery, soft sand beaches are ideal for swimming, snorkeling, jet skiing, para - sailing and any kind of water sports you can imagine. The tropical trade winds from the East make Orient Beach the ideal spot for sailing, kite surfing and wind surfing. Orient Beach is lined with restaurants, beach bars, water sports concessions and massage shops. The beach is clothing optional, however, Esmeralda is located at the end of the beach most frequented by families.

Superior, Deluxe and Oceanfront Rooms Reserve a 500 square foot air conditioned room with a king or two double beds, kitchenette, small stove, toaster oven, electric coffee pot and small refrigerator. Feb 2013 Had a Very Nice Experience I took my father on this trip to celebrate his 75th b'day. i think he had as nice a time as i. the island is lovely and friendly. the resort was beautiful and the staff very accommodating and professional. the only problem we had was there was no water for a full day and that was due to a break in the line that was fixed by evening. the deluxe room was spacious and close to the beach. the reservation center was easy to deal with and very personable. i dealt with Joanne and would go through her again. she was prompt with returning my emails or calls and very informative. We've stayed 5 or 6 times in the past 10 years and Have always enjoyed it . They have just finished a renovation so the whole place seems brighter. We prefer the 1 story units at the Esmeralda rather than the 2 or multistory units at other places. None of the units have ocean views so we stay in the least expensive ones and I've been very pleased. The whole place is very relaxed and casual. There are always beach chairs and umbrellas available so it's not necessary to get up early to reserve a place. The food is superb at the on site restaurant the astrolabe and the beachfront restaurant is never crowded. Beach bar/restaurants close in the late afternoon, but Esmeralda has its own restaurant for dinner or the Orient Village a block away has a number of restaurants. The people there were so great ~ Caroline, Amine, Tom & his wife were all so friendly! The atmosphere is so elegant and beautiful. Ty our Beach Boy at CoCo Beach was so wonderful! Each day he'd get us chairs and drinks and he was so friendly every day! The beach is 1.8 miles long and beautiful turquoise water. We walked the beach every day. Ron - June 5, 2012 Great Vacation This was our third vacation on St. Martin and the second stay at Esmeralda. We loved the pool, beach, and Coco Beach Bar with Beach Boy service. All the staff were very pleasant and very helpful when something was needed. May 2012 Can't Wait To Go Back We were here on our honeymoon and loved our 10 night stay. All staff we very accomadating. Our air conditioner went out the first day, we contacted the front desk and with in a few minutes we had someone at our room to check it out. It couldn't be fixed right away so they moved us to the room next door. All this was done in minutes. Very fast, no waiting. The beach is gorgeous and I think the best on the island. Beach bar staff very friendly made you feel welcome. The resort is within walking distance to several restaurants. We would definatley come back.Apr 2012 Thank you, Thank you!! Dear Ted, We had a wonderful time Dec 10-Dec16 at Esmeralda. Room 466 was superb!! Thank you for arranging it for us. Astrolabe's breakfast's were spectacular, especially the homemade croissants, made fresh each morning. We followed your advice and our best meal all week was at Le Ti' Provençal Much better than Il Nettuno. La Ti' Provencale's ambiance is the best, as is their wait staff, and menu. The seafood was most unusual. We had Parrot Fish, which was new for us, and will now be our gold standard of seafood dinners. We split our orders, and the restaurant was most accommodating and presented the split orders on separate plates, each made fancy with all their culinary touches. Weather was great. Peak experience was riding horses bare-back in the surf. Tell everyone they should go to Bayside Stables. It's under new management and the two women running it are working hard to ensure that customers have a great experience, which we did. The guide takes photos of the riders in the surf, which makes for a memorable photo emblematic of the vacation. - Robert M Going Back Again & Again There is something about Esmeralda that brings us back time and time again, it’s just a wonderful getaway. A Unique Experience This resort is unique in its design--private pools for each unit of four rooms instead of large pools. The beach is a short walk away. The restaurants/bars are outstanding, as is the service. I highly recommend this Caribbean gem. Be sure to include at least one night dining in one of the fine restaurants in Grand Case. Dream Spot This is a beautiful secluded tropical resort. The staff are responsive to requests without being intrusive. It is a restful and relaxing vacation. Will Return Beautiful location, excellent restaurant, friendly staff Laid Back Location The Esmeralda is a comfortable spot steps from the famous Orient beach on the French side of St Martin. What it lacks in amenities it makes up for in simple comfort. This was our second time there and did not disappoint the staff makes you feel like you’re at home and the proximity to the beach and the beach bars/restaurants is a luxury. If you are looking for fancy and big you’re at the wrong place, if you’re looking for cozy and comfortable not many compete. Dinners in Grand Case are a must. Repeat Guests After staying at the Esmeralda 4 times I can’t believe the negative comments I have read on some review sites. My wife & I both love this place. We are not 5 star hotel nuts, so this relaxed atmosphere suits us just fine. We both agree that not a lot of time is spent in our rooms, so what this hotel has to offer is just great with us. We were just there in Nov. and the weather was tremendous, as was the food and shopping. I must say that on our 1st trip it took us 15-20 seconds to get used to the clothing optional attitude of the beach, but it’s really no big deal. The restaurant at the hotel is great as are the beach restaurants. What a good vacation is all about is relaxing & enjoying yourself. When choosing a hotel on St. Martin, look at the big picture. You’re in Paradise. We’ll be back in 2 years to stay once again at the Esmeralda. Rent a car, don’t be afraid of the local drivers and explore. We found great shops just by making a wrong turn.
